Sunlight

Sunlight

About the work

Sunlight captures a raw, meditative moment of stillness beneath the open sky. A reclining nude figure, painted in bold, gestural strokes, dissolves into warm tones of copper, peach, and rose — each mark sculpting light across the body's surface. The subject lies on a vibrant orange towel, its stripes echoing the rhythm of the figure's limbs and casting sun-drenched shadows. Rendered from an intimate, upward angle, the composition invites the viewer into the vulnerability of repose. The face is turned to the sun, eyes closed in surrender, as if absorbing the heat and silence of an unseen summer afternoon. The background — an abstracted pale blue — further isolates the subject, heightening the contemplative solitude. Balancing expressionist texture with anatomical weight, Sunlight is both a study of form and a celebration of light's transformative power. It speaks of presence, embodiment, and the quiet rituals of self-connection.
